Prof. Dr. Jale İrdesel completed her medical education at Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 1981. She worked as a general practitioner from 1981 to 1984. In 1989, she completed her specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine.
Between 1990 and 1992, she worked as a PM&R specialist at Bursa Mustafa Kemalpaşa State Hospital. In 1992, she started working as a PM&R specialist at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine. She became an Assistant Professor in 1993, Associate Professor in 1999, and Professor in 2007.
In 1993, she worked as an observer for three months in the USA — two months at the Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit of Long Island College Hospital, New York, and one month at the Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit of the PM&R Department at New York University. She served as head of the department, vice-chair of the internal medicine department, and as a member of the faculty board at the Department of PM&R at Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine.
She is a member of several professional societies including the Turkish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Association of PM&R Specialists, the Turkish Rheumatism Association, and is actively involved in the Geriatric Rehabilitation, Osteoporosis, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Modalities working groups of the Turkish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She has numerous national and international publications, book chapters, editorial roles, and journal editorial board memberships. She has been a speaker, chairperson, and course instructor at many congresses, symposiums, and courses. From 2004 to 2022, she served as the Chairperson of the Bursa Branch of the Turkish Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. During this period, she regularly organized the Uludağ PM&R Days Symposium. She continues to serve as Chair of the Geriatric Rehabilitation Working Committee and as a member of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Competency Board. In November 2023, she retired from her position at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine.
Research and Interests
Pediatric rehabilitation, osteoporosis, cancer rehabilitation, lymphedema, geriatric rehabilitation, musculoskeletal pain, and neurorehabilitation.
She has numerous publications, presentations, and book chapters in national and international journals on these topics.
